BELLINGHAM MARINE AUSTRALIA BUILDS EXTENSION TO GL

April 1, 2000

Phillip and Eva Southcombe chose Bellingham Marine Australia to build the extension to their marina near the Gladesville Bridge in Sydney, Australia. In order to meet a short completion schedule, Bellingham assigned the contract to Bellingham Marine New Zealand (BMNZ), a member of the Bellingham Marine Group of companies.

The BMNZ project team, led by General Manager Bruce Birtwistle and Project Manager Chris Lamont, co-ordinated the design and construction management from Bellingham’s Auckland office. The production flexibility of the Bellingham Group allowed the pontoons to be cast in Auckland and shipped by container to Sydney with no additional cost to the client.

Bellingham has six manufacturing facilities, plus mobile manufacturing capability. The Southcombes traveled to Auckland to inspect the Bellingham Marine New Zealand factory and to participate in the final co-ordination of the shipment to Sydney. Phillip said that he was impressed by the professionalism of the New Zealand staff and was confident that the BMNZ quality and service would be consistent with that of Bellingham Marine Australia.

The Gladesville Bridge Marina extension consists of 40 berths utilizing the Unifloat system with Australian hardwood walers and concrete guide piling.
